About VanThermia
VanThermia is an independent site that compares heating, air conditioning, ventilation and insulation for camper vans and RVs using official listing data. We sell nothing, we do not physically test every model, and we are funded by the Amazon Associates program.
VanThermia started with a simple question: how do you stay warm in winter and cool in summer in a camper, without wasting money or risking your health? Amazon listings mix numbers, adjectives and sometimes impossible heat outputs. We sort them out so you can compare with confidence.
What do we do?
We compare four product families: heating, air conditioning, ventilation and damp and insulation and safety.
For each product we read its official listing, extract what the manufacturer states and calculate what the listing leaves out: whether a heater’s output matches its fuel use, how many amps a 12 V AC draws, or what fits on a 30 A hookup. We also write practical guides, such as installing a diesel heater and carbon monoxide in campers.
What don’t we do?
- We don’t sell products. We link to Amazon, which sells and ships.
- We don’t physically test every model. We work from listing data and say so on every page. When we explain how a machine behaves, we are describing physics and the technology in general, not our own measurements.
- We don’t make up data. If a listing omits the warranty or noise level, we say so instead of filling the gap.
- We don’t publish prices. They change daily; Amazon shows the current one.
Which stores do we cover?
The English site covers Amazon.com (US). If you visit from the UK or Canada, a product link goes to your local Amazon only when we have verified the same product there; otherwise it stays on Amazon.com. The Spanish version of VanThermia covers Amazon.es with its own catalog.
How do we make money?
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you buy through our links, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. No brand pays to appear or to rank higher. Details are in our affiliate disclosure.
How do we pick recommendations?
With a VanThermia score out of 10 from a public formula that differs by product type. It is explained in full in how we review. The score sets most of the order, but not all of it: every ranking explains who each model is for and what its drawback is.
